MELON HELMETS RATED "GOOD" AT BIKE BILD
Another great test result for Melon Helmets – This time: Bike Bild's helmet test 2019.
"Racing stripes, bowling ball or the melon that gives it its name: the Urban Active is available in over 50 different designs and colours. You have to like the melon shape, though. We liked the above-average soft padding, in comparison the Urban Active is relatively broad. For a helmet in skater look the model of Melon is very light.
Melon leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to looks, everyone should find their favourite model here. The inner values are also right, reflective straps and a magnetic buckle are an additional pleasure."
MELON WINS AT "CYCLE MAGAZINE"
Cycle magazin chose Melon as the test winner in the category ‘Urban Helmets’. Here’s what they said:
“Fancy helmet with a lot of functionality: The adjustment to the individual head circumference is regulated by the spin dial at the back. The side straps are adjusted to the correct fit. Breathable paddings lie comfortably on the head. Thanks to the magnetic buckle, the chin strap can be operated easily with one hand. An air flow system with twelve ventilation holes provides a great cooling, and reflective elements on straps and logo provide additional safety. Also the helmet is particularly light in comparison with other brands.“
MELON HELMETS RATED "BEST" AT KONSUMENT.AT
The Konsument testers examined 18 helmets of popular manufacturers on a much stricter basis than ever before. In this latest test, only three helmets scored “good”, with Melon as the winner. The helmets were tested in a range of categories: ‘accident protection’, ‘handling’, ‘comfort’, ‘heat resistance’ and ‘chemicals’, using the European standard for bicycle helmets CE EN 1078. This new method of testing gauged how well the forehead and temple are protected by the helmet, and whether the forehead is subject to rotational movement during the fall. Both scenarios have a major influence on the severity of injuries.
The test winner was Melon, which also stood out for its “handling and comfort”. Melon also achieved a surprising result in the sub-category “ventilation”. Just one other helmet ventilated as well as Melon did. Despite the closed helmet shell this result is almost in the racing bike helmet league.
EDITORS RECOMMENDATION AT „AKTIV RADFAHREN“
The well-known independent German magazine „aktiv Radfahren“ has tested twelve bicycle helmets, issue 04/2015. The test was a lab test according to the EU standard EN1078 and was supported by helmet experts of Cratoni.
The Melon® Urban Active helmet received the mark „very good minus“ and the explicit recommendation of the magazine.It is the third-best helmet in the test and the best urban bicycle helmet with a closed helmet shell.

1. Grad der Innovation
Melon® "Urban Active"-Helme schaffen eine Symbiose aus Retro-Design und Hightech. Melon® hat den Look der beliebten Skate-Schale aus den 80er Jahren bewahrt und zeitgemäß mit deutlich mehr Funktionalität versehen. Das In-Mold-Verfahren und die verstärkte Polycarbonat-Konstruktion sind mindestens 30% leichter als andere Helme mit geschlossener Schalenkonstruktion.
2. Funktionalität
Der Melon® Urban Active Helm bietet ein hohes Maß an Komfort, Sicherheit und einfacher Handhabung. Die natürliche Belüftung erfolgt über MACS (Melon® Airflow Channel System). 12 Luftöffnungen, die parallel zur Längsachse des Kopfes verlaufen, sorgen in jeder Kopfposition für einen optimalen Luftstrom. Weitere Kanäle im Inneren des Helms lenken den Luftstrom über mehrere Achsen und Radien auf ca. 75% der abgedeckten Kopfoberfläche.Eine sichere individuelle und komfortable Einstellung wird durch eine stabile Drehradverstellung auf der Rückseite des Helms sowie eine waschbare COOLMAX®-Schaumpolsterung in drei Stärken erreicht. Die patentierte magnetische Fidlock®-Schnalle ermöglicht eine einfache Einhandbedienung auch mit nassen oder kalten Fingern. Außerdem verhindert er im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Verschlusssystemen das Einklemmen der Haut beim Schließen. 3M® reflektierende Logoaufkleber und Gurte sorgen für 360°-Reflexion. Kinnriemenversteller sorgen für eine sichere individuelle Gurtanpassung. Die direkt in die EPS-Schale eingegossenen Ankerriemen bieten eine großflächige Verbindung zum Helm.
3. Ergonomie
Melon ermöglicht dem Benutzer die Auswahl zwischen drei Helmschalengrößen und drei unterschiedlich großen, atmungsaktiven Coolmax®-Schaumstoffpolstern. Die zusätzliche Drehknopfverstellung ermöglicht eine maximale ergonomische Anpassung an jede individuelle Kopfform. Die beidseitigen Kinnriemenversteller ermöglichen eine individuelle Einstellung der korrekten vorderen und hinteren Riemengeometrie durch sicheres Einrasten am Riemen.
4. Symbolischer und emotionaler Inhalt
Melon ist eine offensichtliche Metapher für den Kopf. Der Ursprung des Markennamens Melon® liegt in der englischen Redewendung "Watch your Melon!", in Kombination mit der natürlichen Form einer Wassermelone. Melon®-Helme sind in 43 Modellen und Farben erhältlich.
5. Produktperipherie
Der Melon® Urban Active Helm wurde so konstruiert, dass die Befestigungspunkte für das Melon® Vista Visor direkt in die Schale integriert wurden. Dies ermöglicht eine optimale Befestigung und zusätzlichen Aufprallschutz.
6. Selbsterklärende Qualität
Die Handhabung des Helms ist auch ohne Handbuch weitgehend selbsterklärend. Details, wie die Öffnungsrichtung des Magnetverschlusses, die richtige Positionierung am Kopf oder auch die Dicke der verschiedenen Polsterelemente, sind klar ersichtlich. Dies wird einfach dadurch erreicht, dass die erforderlichen Informationen am Produkt an der richtigen Stelle angebracht sind.
7. Ökologische Kompatibilität
Das Melon® Verpackungs- und Displaykonzept berücksichtigt natürliche Materialien und umweltfreundliche Verarbeitungstechniken wie Naturkarton, Druckfarben auf Wasserbasis und unbehandelte Holzelemente für die Displayeinheiten.
